The Diamond Thief - Grammar Lesson on the Past Continuous
The Diamond Thief - Grammar Lesson on the Past Continuous
Lesson Type: Grammar
Level: Intermediate to Upper-Intermediate (B1 - B2)
Lesson length: 60 - 90 minutes
Summary: This lesson is based around a fun whodunnit! Students will read clues to determine which suspects were most likely to have committed a diamond heist and then read interviews with suspects that include examples of the target language (past continuous). They’ll then be guided through clarification of meaning, form, and pronunciation of the past continuous before practicing it in both a controlled and freer (role play) exercise. It’s possible to break this lesson into two shorter lessons if needed - a reading lesson first with a grammar lesson to follow up.
Target language: the past continuous/ past progressive
This lesson includes a detailed lesson plan, the full PPT presentation, and any other necessary materials.
