Shark Tank (Part 2) - Speaking Lesson
Shark Tank (Part 2) - Speaking Lesson
Lesson Type: Speaking (making a pitch!)
Level: Intermediate - Upper-Intermediate
Lesson length: 60 - 90 minutes
Summary: This lesson is a continuation of Shark Tank: Listening (Part 1), in which students watch an episode of Shark Tank.
This lesson (Part 2) is a fun, project-based speaking lesson in which students imagine they are contestants on the Shark Tank reality series. They will work together in small groups to create a persuasive pitch for a hilariously ridiculous product... and then present their pitch to try and convince the “sharks” (their fellow classmates) to invest!
This material works best when it's taught in the next lesson after Part 1 (or in the second 90-min block of the same 3-hour lesson), so that the original listening lesson about the Shark Tank episode is still fresh in students’ minds (and so the pitch they saw in the episode then becomes a model for their own speaking task).
