Summary: In this lesson, students will read a funny/ unusual news story about two escaped llamas, practicing skimming for gist and reading for detail. The reading portion of the lesson includes a student-centered vocabulary pre-teach stage to clarify potentially blocking words in the text. Students will also work creatively in small groups to either tell or write their own crazy news stories based on a silly animal picture.
