Summary: This WRITING lesson is a continuation from the Humans of New York READING lesson (Part 1), so this will work best when taught as the very next lesson after the Part 1 lesson. Though it can stand alone if necessary - there is an alternate lead-in included in this lesson in case you haven’t taught the reading lesson previously. In this lesson, you’ll guide students through writing their own personal story in the style of a Humans of New York Instagram post. There is an extensive focus on the genre, style, and language to elevate students’ writing abilities, along with an interactive stage at the end of the lesson in which students read and comment on each other’s posts.
