Hey there, online teacher.
Even for an experienced teacher…
Teaching beginners online comes with its own unique set of challenges.
Unless you use the students’ native language, how do you make sure they understand you? How do you even give instructions without instant overwhelm on both sides?
Tech troubleshooting takes on a whole new meaning with beginner students. Try explaining how to use Zoom when your students don’t even have basic general vocabulary.
Beginners have such limited fluency that fun and interactive activities seem all but impossible. Plus, any “games” designed for beginners are often way too juvenile for adults.
